Here are miscellaneous patches I maintain externally
- hotfixes for 2.4 : Hotfixes for kernel 2.4 are of limited use now that 2.4 also has a stable branch. However, people running older kernels (back to 2.4.28) are sometimes interested in getting easy fixes.
- lcdpanel : Completely reprogrammable driver for HD44780 (parallel) and KS-0074 (serial) LCD modules connected to the parallel port. It also supports an input keypad. It also works on NexCom's security appliances.
- watchdog : Simple watchdog driver for NexCom's security appliances. The daemon from Formilux is also provided.
- x86-emu : i486 and i686 instruction sets emulation for i386, i486 and i586. It allows programs compiled for higher architectures to run on lower ones. It must absolutely not be run in SMP as it might be exploited to access various kernel area. It might be vulnerable in UP too, but the conditions to exploit it do not seem practical.
- kmsgdump : Kernel Messages Dump on floppy disk or parallel port printer. It has served me a lot in 2.2 and early 2.4 times, where oopses and kernel panics were frequent. The project is a bit dead, in part because of the kernel's stability. Randy Dunlap has ported it to 2.5 and 2.6.
